Good deal on cert materials

I was looking for some CCNA Certification Materials and InformIT had a good bundle. I got a significant discount, which made it a lot cheaper than buying everything separately. I signed up for their newsletter and got an extra offer on top of the sale price, so that was nice. The digital study guides and practice tests downloaded right away. I felt like I got a lot for my money, especially since I needed several resources. Saved a good chunk of cash and got the materials I needed.

Quick download, easy purchase

I bought a 'Data Science Courses' eBook. The purchase was straightforward. Downloaded it immediately and started reading. No problems at all. It was exactly what I needed for work.

Good content, delivery could improve

I purchased the 'Python Programming Books' bundle during a sale. The selection of books is really solid, covering different levels, which was exactly what I needed to get started with a new project. The digital downloads were instant, no issues there. However, I also ordered a print book, 'Agile Project Management Guides', which took almost 10 days to reach my address in Texas. The tracking was a bit vague too, so I wasn't sure when to expect it. Customer service was helpful when I inquired, but it still felt like a long wait. Overall, good value for the price, but shipping times for physical items could be faster or at least more predictable.

Does InformIT offer any kind of student discount? Trying to save some cash on my textbooks.

N Nick 2 months ago

Yep, they do! There's usually a specific student discount code or program. Check their FAQ section, I think it's mentioned there.

S Shane B. 2 months ago

I used one a while back. Just needed to verify my student status. It was a decent percentage off, definitely made a difference.

Can you read InformIT ebooks on a Kindle? Or is it like, their own app only?

C Carly D. 2 months ago

AFAIK, their ebooks are usually PDFs or ePubs. So you can probably transfer them to a Kindle, but it won't be a native Kindle format necessarily. Might need to convert 'em.

S Sam 2 months ago

It depends. Some formats work okay, others are a bit clunky. I usually just use their web reader or a dedicated ePub app on my tablet for a better experience.

How does InformIT compare to O'Reilly or Pluralsight for video training? Is it better for specific topics?

R Ryan Doyle 2 months ago

InformIT's video training is pretty solid, especially for more 'traditional' IT certs and programming languages. O'Reilly has a huge library too, and Pluralsight is more focused on dev skills. InformIT often has content from the actual book authors, which is a plus.

T Troy Carter 2 months ago

I find InformIT's videos often pair well with their books since they're from the same publishers. O'Reilly probably has more breadth, but InformIT's depth on certain topics (like Cisco or Microsoft certs) can be really good.

thinking about getting a Pearson VUE exam voucher. does InformIT ever have discounts on those? or should I just buy it direct?

N Nina Torres 1 month ago

They totally do! Keep an eye out, I've seen deals for 10-15% off sometimes. Worth waiting for if you're not in a super rush.

C Carly Doyle 1 month ago

Yeah, I picked one up during a holiday sale last year, saved a decent chunk. Definitely check their sales page or sign up for emails.

I bought an ebook but it's not what I expected. What's their return policy like for digital stuff?

M Marcus 1 month ago

Ebook returns are a bit tricky. I think you have a limited window, maybe 30 days, and it has to be unread or barely accessed. Check their policy for the exact terms.

T Todd L. 1 month ago

Yeah, I returned one once. It was okay, but they do have specific conditions for digital returns since you can't really 'return' a file. Make sure you read the fine print on their site.

Can I stack coupon codes on InformIT? Like, if I have a new user discount and find another promo code?

S Shane Walsh 1 month ago

Nah, usually not. Most coupon codes say they can't be combined with other offers, especially if one of them is already a discount or part of a bundle.

D Dan 1 month ago

I've tried that before, didn't work for me. Their system usually only lets you apply one code at a time.

what's the deal with 'Rough Cuts'? is that like a beta version of a book?

L Lisa 1 month ago

Exactly! It's basically a book in progress. You get chapters as they're written and updated, so you see it before it's fully published. Good for getting an early peek.

J Julia T. 1 month ago

Yeah, you get access to the content as the authors are still working on it. Kinda cool if you want the absolute latest info on a hot topic.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for print books to ship to like, New York City? Need a textbook pretty soon.

A Andre E. 2 months ago

Mine usually get there in about a week for NYC, maybe a bit less if it's not a crazy busy time. Standard shipping.

R Ryan Torres 2 months ago

Yeah, I'd say 5-7 business days is a good estimate. Faster if you pay for expedited but that adds up.
